There is no question about it, if we could all be guaranteed a couple of weeks a year when we could diarise time off together; we would. Ok, so we would also all diarise non-moody teenagers, tantrum free toddlers and partners with patience – but time at least is something most of us can manage!

Easter is the perfect time to get away; it’s a reward for getting through the first part of the year, and the springboard that connects us to summer, which is just around the corner!

Coming to Plymouth and staying at the New Continental Hotel makes so much sense; it is the perfect destination and home away from home for all the family to enjoy!

Outside The Hotel…

As ever; Plymouth is putting on quite the show this Easter, so if you’re lucky enough to be spending the holidays here, your whole family is in for a treat!

Plymouth as a city offers so much to see, do and be part of all year through – and Easter is no egg-ception!

There are lots of free activities as well as theatre fun, the National Marine Aquarium and MUCH, MUCH MORE!

The Theatre Royal Plymouth always has an amazing programme of work on its stages; and this Easter there are some truly extraordinary performances. What’s more, it’s just a two minute walk from the Hotel!

Saltram House is an amazing National Trust House & Garden and a winner with our guests every year. It was once a home to the Parker family and is now a home to lots of wild animals. You could easily spend one or two of your days in Plymouth exploring the park, dressing up in the house or finding out all about natures ‘Grand designs’. There is an infamous Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt too. {Easter Egg Hunt | 24 March – 8 April | 10am to 4pm. £2 per hunt. Normal admission prices into the house and garden apply. There is no admission charge for Under 5s and National Trust members.}

Plymouth by Foot & Bike is an amazing FREE activity. Given our cities history; there have been many famous people walking the Plymouth cobbles. Follow in the footsteps of these infamous explorers, pioneers and artists and walk the Southwest coast path from the Royal William Yard to the Barbican.

You will encounter iconic naval buildings, breath-taking views over the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound and the intriguing characteristics of the former towns and villages that make up this original marine city.

Plymouth’s Food Scene…

Food feeds holiday memories; as well as your tummies and soul!

The Plymouth restaurant and food scene is a joyful mix of old and new, and most importantly perhaps, like many things in Plymouth, old informing new!

An ocean city famed for its fresh seafood as well as honouring food diversity. Diversity potentially born from a city that thrives on collaboration, culture, history and the Arts; we have a food scene that is a melting pot of excellence on our door step!

With golden oldies that have stood the test of time; to new independent gems. It’s not just our holiday makers that are in owe of Plymouth’s amazing food diversity; Plymouth is a city that meets over dinner, so there is no shortage of options!

From restaurants at home in the glamour of the Royal William Yard, a Grade-I listed former Navy building situated on the entrance of the River Tamar; to city centre wonders that will take your breath away and barbican beauties waiting to dazzle; Plymouth promises an explorer’s ransom of options – the hardest thing is perhaps making the choice!

Getting Here By Road…

Plymouth is a city that is easily accessible; the road trip here can be good fun too, thanks to some tips on how to survive ‘The Family Road Trip’ – shared by staff here at the New Continental Hotel! They have added some great printable resources too!!
