Where’s Abi? New Musical Opens in Plymouth @infobeyondface @barbicantheatre
Youth Company set to wow audiences with daring new musical dancing into the Barbican Theatre this December.
Beyond Face Youth Company are bringing their brand new show Where’s Abi? to the Barbican Theatre Plymouth on 1st & 2nd December at 7.30pm. The piece, which will be performed by the company aged between 14 and 20, is the culmination of over a years’ worth of exploration and has been written in collaboration with professional writer Titi Dawudu and Plymouth Music Zone.
Alix Harris, Artistic Director of Beyond Face CIC, says ‘The show has been a long time in development, so I’m really excited to put it in front of an audience. The young people have been at the heart of the creation process, from giving feedback on the script, to writing the music with Plymouth Music Zone and then learning the choreography with Jules Laville. It’s going to be a really great performance and we hope you can join us for it.’
The original music was created alongside the team at Plymouth Music Zone, giving the show a fresh and modern feel, with some catchy tunes which you’re sure to be singing on the way home. With support from Vital Sparks, the Youth Company previewed part of the performance at New Model Theatre’s Outpost festival in October 2016. Beyond Face have been creating innovative work since 2015, with their most recent professional performance Mixed Grill selling out in Plymouth venues earlier in the spring. With an established reputation in Plymouth, local professionals have been involved in the creation of the show, including dance practitioner Jules Laville, set designer Nina Raines and producer Helen Bovey.
